Alberta’s Early Learning mandate is also called FLIGHT, a curriculum framework intended to guide the significant work of early learning and childcare educators with young children (ages 0 – 6 years) and their families in facility-based childcare settings. This is a flexible framework for thinking about how children learn and experience their worlds, as well as a guide that fosters strong early childhood communities. The framework is founded on the guiding principles of Reggio Emilia.
The proprietary blend of the Montessori approach within the Reggio Emilia framework provides registered students at Blüm with a beautifully designed curriculum that stimulates development, facilitates learning, and shapes global citizenship, within spaces that are refreshingly clutter-free and absent from toxic materials and screens.
Registered families consistently praise this approach as it not only provides learning experiences and activities for students but also instills invaluable practical life skills while inspiring creativity and freedom of expression.
The curriculum in Blüm’s Infant Classroom is designed to provide a gentle introduction to the wonders of curiosity, exploration, and the Montessori method. The intention is to encourage sensory discovery, foster early social interactions with other classmates, and lay the foundation for future cognitive growth:
The curriculum in Blüm’s Junior Preschool Classroom is designed to explore the natural curiosity and emerging independence of toddlers. The intentionally clutter-free environment is conducive to a space that encourages exploration, imaginative and creative play, and the development of foundational Montessori skills:
Blüm’s thoughtfully prepared preschool curriculum serves as a captivating introduction to appropriate social boundaries, the enchantment of learning, the magic of languages, and the fundamental principles of the Montessori method:
The Junior Kindergarten curriculum at Blüm is meticulously designed to provide a comprehensive foundation that balances academic essentials with the development of Montessori practical life skills, creative expression and independence, and the essentials of being responsible global citizens. Once students graduate from this classroom, they are more than prepared to start Kindergarten.
“The BEST childcare we’ve been to. We’ve been a vonkids, play, and two kids n co location over the course of mat leaves, covid, closures etc and Blüm doesn’t even compare. We held our 5 year old later for kindergarten and were worried he miss out but their curriculum constantly had him learning and challenged him as an intellectual. Their Montessori focus has them doing activities that I set up as an eager Pinterest first time mom the first go that I no longer have energy for so I’m so grateful both kids get that there. The staff and educators are one of kind and truly love and adore our children. I love that they happily put siblings together when they’re missing each other or having a hard time. They have no outdoor space but actively get to the park daily and have different programs like jumpin jellies come in for gross motor time. They’re constantly accepting feedback to improve the flow of the entry way and cubby storage. We’re so grateful to have found care that is truly purposeful and eager to constantly grow, and most importantly adore, teach, and foster our children”
